The biggest week in Bodog Poker history wrapped on Sunday night with Bodog’s biggest guaranteed prize pool tournament ever, the $300,000 Guaranteed Bodog Poker Open II Main Event. A total of 477 online poker players entered the $500 buy-in tournament, including many of the world’s best online poker players, and in the end, it was Arik "zubs1aa" M. who outlasted the field to win the huge $75,000 first-place prize.
The history-making win for "zubs1aa" capped an impressive week for the Bodog regular. The online poker player took advantage of Bodog’s daily online qualifiers and won three separate $100 satellites on Saturday, giving him his Main Event buy-in plus T$1,000. Prior to Sunday’s night’s big event, he had already racked up two cashes in the Bodog Poker Open II series, including a seventh place finish in Event No. 5 on October 1. He also grabbed a third place finish this week in Bodog’s weekly $1,500 guaranteed event.
Like the inaugural Bodog Poker Open Main Event this past March, which was won by Shawn "phatcat" Luman, a number of well-known online poker tournament veterans were at the virtual tables Sunday night, including Thayer "thay3r" Rasmussen, Eric "Rizen" Lynch, Zachary "CrazyZachary" Clark, John "PearlJammer" Turner, Garrett "GBecks" Beckman, and Scott "SCTrojans" Freeman. Team Bodog poker pros David Williams, Evelyn Ng, Jean-Robert Bellande and Justin Bonomo were also out in full force, with Bonomo faring the best in the Main Event as he reached the final table to finish ninth.
