Adrian Peterson rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns as the Minnesota Vikings buried the Detroit Lions 42-10. It was Peterson's first game after missing two outings with a knee injury.

Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson was 18-of-24 for 204 yards and two scores as the Vikes won their third in a row and moved to 6-6. That's the same record as Detroit, which has now lost four in a row.

Chester Taylor added 70 rushing yards as the Vikings hit the ground for 216 total yards.

"The whole team worked with each other and our offense made it really easy on us," said Vikings linebacker Ben Leber. "It took the pressure off us and kept it on the Lions offense. It was a great offensive performance today."

Lions receiver Roy Williams was forced to leave the game in the first half with a knee injury,

In other early NFL action:

  • Peyton Manning threw four touchdowns as the Indianapolis Colts (10-2) held on to beat the 8-4 Jacksonville Jaguars 28-25. Jags QB David Garrad was very good, completing 24 of 29 attempts for 257 yards and a couple TDs, but threw his first interception of the year in the fourth quarter on a deflected pass.

  • At 44-years-old, Vinny Testaverde should be closer to relaxing at Del Boca Vista instead of playing football. That didn't stop him from throwing two TD passes in the 5-7 Carolina Panthers' 31-14 win over the San Francisco 49ers (3-9).
  • Rookie QB John Beck threw three interceptions and lost two fumbles and the Miami Dolphins fell to 0-12 with a 40-13 loss to the New York Jets (3-9). The Fins might've blown their best opportunity at a win as they await games with Buffalo, Baltimore, New England and Cincinnati.
  • The Washington Redskins faced an extremely emotional game against the Buffalo Bills following the moving tribute to slain teammate Sean Taylor. Perhaps it was too much to handle. The Redskins (5-7) led most of the way but couldn't hold on as Rian Lindell kicked a 36-yard field goal with just four seconds remaining to give the Bills (6-6) a 17-16 victory.
  • LaDainian Tomlinson ran for 177 yards and two touchdowns and the defense chipped in with eight sacks as the San Diego Chargers (7-5) defeated the 4-8 Kansas City Chiefs 24-10 at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chargers also had three interceptions on the day.
  • Lofa Tatupu picked off Philadelphia's A.J. Feeley three times and the Seattle Seahawks (8-4) took a commanding lead in the NFC West with their 28-24 win over the Eagles (5-7). Tatupu's third interception was arguably the biggest, coming in the final minute with the Eagles in the red zone.
  • Vince Young threw for 248 yards and two touchdowns in rallying the Tennessee Titans (7-5) to a 28-20 victory over Houston. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Titans. As for the Texans (5-7), their slim playoff hopes were extinguished with a second straight defeat.
  • In the "Who cares?" game of the week, the St. Louis Rams (3-9) got their first home victory of the year as Gus Frerotte threw three touchdown passes in the first half to earn the 28-16 win over the Falcons (3-9).
