The Boston Red Sox (91-65, 10.42 units) will have to wait at least one more night to clinch their fifth postseason trip in six years. Rookie Zach Jackson and the Cleveland Indians beat Josh Beckett and the Red Sox 4-3 on Monday night to delay the inevitable. The New York Yankees (85-71, -8.75 units) are not finished like their historic stadium just yet.

Meanwhile the favored Tampa Bay Rays (93-62, 27.30 units) took another step toward their first AL East title by beating the Baltimore Orioles 4-2. They lead the BoSox by 2.5 games and their magic number for winning the division crown is down to four.

Over in the West, the Los Angeles Angels (97-59, 27.30) are on cruise control and waiting to see who they will face in the opening round of the playoffs. They look to move closer to gaining home-field advantage throughout the playoffs when they try to hand the Seattle Mariners (57-99, -38.01) a 13th straight loss tonight at Safeco Field.

The Oakland A's are still having fun even if their playoff hopes have been long over. The A’s beat the Texas Rangers 4-3 Monday night to move into second in the AL West. Oakland has won four straight and eight of nine, providing some solid late-season value.
