Alabama fought off a furious comeback by Colorado to win the PetroSun Independence Bowl 30-24 Sunday night in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The Buffaloes were down 20-0 at the end of the first period and 27-0 in the second quarter, before staging a seemingly insurmountable comeback.

But Tide passer John Parker Wilson completed 13 of his first 15 passes for 185 yards and three touchdowns to hold off the Buffaloes' comeback bid as Cody Hawkins threw two touchdown passes and finished the second half 9-of-10 for 87 yards and two scores.

Kevin Eberhart's 39-yard field goal in the third quarter brought Colorado to 27-17, but Eberhart also missed a 48-yard field goal in the period.

Colorado's attempt at a multi-lateral play as time expired collapsed shy of midfield, and ended the game.
