UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva (22-4-0) says he is ready for his toughest match yet and has no plans on changing the fighting style that won him the belt.
Scheduled to face Pride middleweight champion Dan Henderson (22-6-0) at UFC 82: Pride of a Champion on Feb. 1 in Columbus, Ohio, Silva is currently the -170 favorite to win in the Bodog Sportsbook.
"Dan Henderson is one of the greatest fighters on Earth," he tells theToronto Sun. "He's proven that with many fights with many great guys. It's going to be an honour to fight him. I'm going to continue doing what I do best, which is Muay Thai, even though I've been training a lot of jiu-jitsu. But I will maintain my Muay Thai because that's what got me to where I am."
While Silva is famous for his knockout striking, Henderson is legendary for his wrestling ability, toughness and iron jaw. In fact, even after nearly 30 MMA fights, Henderson has never been knocked out.
"I wouldn't say it's a perfect matchup. The guy knows how to fight pretty well, so it's not that perfect," Henderson says, "but I've got some good power and I've been in there against some pretty tough strikers before."
