Roddick’s best showing at the French Open ended with a lopsided loss in fading light. The American played poorly in a 6-4, 6-2, 6-3 fourth-round exit against 11th-seeded Gael Monfils of France.
The Frenchman finished with a 45-18 edge in winners and a 17-4 advantage in aces. Roger Federer had a better day but he sure is playing preoccupied now that Rafael Nadal is out of the way.
He dropped the first two sets of his fourth-round match against 63rd-ranked Tommy Haas before fighting back to win 6-7 (4), 5-7, 6-4, 6-0, 6-2 to grab a berth in the quarterfinals.
Federer (-450 favorite) will next play Monfils (+300) and will try and improve on a 4-0 record against the Frenchman.
