Andy Murray was supposed to compete in the Australian Open. Instead, he's going home without winning a single match. Murray lost 7-5, 6-4, 0-6, 7-6 to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France.

Bet on the Australian Open!

"At the start of my matches I like to get into some kind of rhythm," Murray, a Scot, said. "The return is normally the best part of my game and I didn't return that well in the first set. I was leaving a lot of them short and his game is to run around, hit those forehands and rush the net. He did that really well. I felt worse a couple of years ago when I got absolutely smoked in the first round and was in bad shape. I did all the proper preparation, I've worked hard on my game and improved a lot of my shots. It's not the worst I've felt after a defeat."

So now that Murray's out, can anyone beat Roger Federer? As Bodog Nation contributor Adrian Brijbassi writes in his Australian Open preview, "A lanky 20-year-old, Murray beat Federer two years ago in a minor tournament and has progressed steadily since. In the days leading to the Open, his odds were slashed as tennis bettors clearly bought into the sales job. The No. 9 seed went off at 14/1, making him the co-fourth choice behind Federer, [Rafael] Nadal and last year's breakout player, Novak Djokovic. But Murray lacks fitness and withered on Monday in the Australian heat against a player who is more fascinating."

American Andy Roddick, who hammered Czech qualifier Lukas Dlouhy 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 to reach the second round, obviously felt for Murray, saying, "I shudder to think what's going to be written about this tomorrow."
