Baseball Betting: Cardinals Trade Scott Rolen to Blue Jays for Troy Glaus

Tony LaRussa probably mumbled “Good riddance” when he got word that Scott Rolen was finally dealt to the Toronto Blue Jays. Rolen’s rocky tenure in St. Louis will be remembered for his feud with his manager during the 2006 World Series, as well as disappointing play on the field.
Hampered by shoulder injuries, he hit just eight home runs last season. He was traded for another one-time All-Star third baseman, Troy Glaus. LaRussa hopes that the switch from artificial turf to Busch Stadium’s grass field will help Glaus stay healthy. He was limited to 115 games last year.
Rolen, meanwhile, wants to rejuvenate his career for a team that could use some spark and superior defense. Even though it plays in the ultra-competitive American League East, Toronto still has hopes of reaching the postseason. Baseball bettors aren’t so certain.
The Blue Jays’ 2008 World Series odds are 25/1. The Cardinals are an even longer shot at 30/1. The Boston Red Sox, at 7/2, are favored to repeat as champs.
