Manager Jim Tracy announced the Colorado Rockies’ rotation to begin the second half, with righthanders Aaron Cook and Ubaldo Jimenez starting the first two games Thursday and Friday at San Diego.

Cook and Jimenez have been effective recently, so it’s understandable why the Rockies want to get them slotted in succession as soon as possible.

The Padres will counter with Chad Gaudin, who is 4-7, with a 5.03 ERA, in the opener.

The Padres are hoping that Kevin Kouzmanoff continues to swing a hot bat once the second half of the season begins.

Sunday in San Francisco, Kouzmanoff went 4-for-5 against the Giants with a three-run homer. It marked the eighth time this season that Kouzmanoff had three or more hits in a game.

The Padres scored 10 runs Sunday, becoming the last major league team to reach double-digits in runs scored in a game this season.
