Jorge Santiago vs. Trevor Prangley

Jorge Santiago beat Trevor Prangley in the final round of the Strikeforce tournament.

Nov. 16 in San Jose, CA, American Top Team fighter Jorge Santiago (16-7-0) became the first fighter to win a tournament sanctioned by the California State Athletic Commission.

Knocking out last-minute replacement Sean Salmon (14-5-0) with a quick flying knee at just 24-seconds into the first round, Santiago advanced to the finals to meet Trevor Prangley (16-5-0) who was awarded a referee's decision over Falaniko Vitale (24-8-0) in his opening match after Vitale was unable to continue fighting due to an accidental poke in the eye.

Santiago wasted no time taking the fight to Prangley, and showed incredible takedown defense against the South African wrestling champion. Finally, at 2:31 into the round, Santiago delivered a crushing knee that dropped his opponent to the mat.

In other bouts, Alistair Overeem (26-11-0) beat Paul Buentello (23-10-0)to become the first Strikeforce heavyweight champion, while light heavyweight champion Bobby Southworth (8-5-0) lost in a shocking upset to Team Voodoo fighter Anthony Ruiz (18-10-0)

Fan favorite Cung Le (5-0-0) extended his unbeaten streak to five fights, manhandling Sam "The Squeeze" Morgan (19-10-0) for three rounds before finishing him with a crushing kick.
