Just days after news broke of former Green Bay Packer Brett Favre asking to be released from his obligations with the franchise to pursue a comeback attempt with another team, all requests have been denied.

The Associated Press reported on Saturday that the team will not grant the Hall of Fame quarterback the right to be released from his contract so if Favre does plan to suit up yet again this season it will be in familiar colors.

Packers general manager Ted Thompson and head coach Mike McCarthy both look to welcome the 38-year-old if the return should come to fruition, but not in the role he's used to.

Should Favre play for the Packers in 2008 it will be in a reserve role, unless his $12M contract is traded to another team for draft picks.
