Just a short while after we here at Bodog Beat were singing the praises of LeCharles Bentley and his feel-good, storybook return from knee injury, the bottom appears to have fallen out.
Bentley's agent says the center has asked for and received his release from the Cleveland Browns. The 28-year-old Bentley passed a physical and a running test Monday and was cleared to practice with the team during its three-day minicamp this week.
There seemed to be a major disconnect between Bentley – who told the media upon his return that he wanted to be a starter this season in the NFL – and the Browns staff. Cleveland was uncertain Bentley could jump right back into a starting role after two years of inactivity. Since they couldn't come to an agreement, Cleveland did the honorable thing and let Bentley search out a starting opportunity elsewhere.
How will Bentley's release affect Cleveland this season? Currently, the Browns are listed at 28/1 to win the 2009 Super Bowl…get all your NFL Football Futures in the Bodog Sportsbook today!
