The Boston Celtics survived a scare in Game 2
Remember when the Boston Celtics were almost eliminated from the playoffs? Twice? (AP Image).

In the second quarter of Sunday's Game 2 matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics, an uninjured Paul Pierce and co. rallied the New England crowd as the C's took a giant lead and never looked back.

Maybe they should have.

In what almost went down as one of the greatest comebacks the Finals have ever seen, the Lakers bombed seven threes in the midst of a 31-9 run in the final eight minutes of the game.

The Lakers got within two points before time management and forced free throws widened the gap to 108-102 at game's end.

Leading all scorers was Kobe Bryant, whose 30 points helped the Lakers bounce back from down as many as 24 points in the fourth.

Breaking News: Leon Powe. Leon Powe!

In one of the biggest WTF moments basketball fans have seen this season, Powe, a sparsely used sophomore erupted for 21 points, trailing only Pierce on the Celtics' score chart. Pierce finished the game with 28.

Also worth mentioning: Rajon Rondo's 16 assists.
