Luis Castillo has hit the big time.

The San Diego Chargers have signed their star young DL to a monster deal – five years, $43.1 million, $18 million guaranteed – that will make him the sixth-highest paid defensive lineman in the NFL.

"Since his arrival, Luis has been played a huge role in the success we've had as a defense," Chargers general manager A.J. Smith said (courtesy ESPN). "He's an ascending player who is committed to getting better. We're thrilled that he'll be a Charger for years to come."

Castillo has played 36 games during his three-year NFL career, starting 33. His best season came in 2006, where he posted seven sacks and was named to the Pro Bowl.
