| Tonight the top-ranked Pittsburgh Panthers will try to open with 16 straight victories for the first time in five years as they host the South Florida Bulls, who have not beaten a ranked team on the road in 17 years. (AP Images) |
Not only are the Bulls going up against the top dog in the nation but they have to overcome an 18-45 record in conference play (2-24 on the road) since joining the Big East. They've also lost 23 straight road games against Top 25 opponents since 1992.
Pittsburgh hasn't started a season with 16 straight victories since winning the first 18 games of 2003-04. The Panthers have won both meetings with South Florida since it joined the Big East.
This will be South Florida's third crack at upsetting a top-ranked team. The Bulls lost to North Carolina in 1981, and fell to Cincinnati in 2000. Will the third time be lucky? Get your college basketball betting now.
