The Penn State Nittany Lions (14-5 SU, 8-3-1 ATS) didn’t get a single vote. But Michigan had better watch out when these two Big Ten teams clash on Tuesday.
The Wolverines are rebuilding quite nicely in their second year under coach John Beilein. His 1-3-1 zone defense, however, is susceptible to the 3-pointer, and that’s Penn State’s strength. The Lions hit 38.7 percent of their trey attempts, led by guards Stanley Pringle (51.4 percent) and Talor Battle (41.2 percent).
Michigan appears to be overvalued at this point after consecutive losses to Illinois (-7 at home) and Ohio State (+5.5 on the road). The Wolverines are also just 0-2-1 ATS on the road this year; the Lions are 3-1-1 ATS at home, including their upset victory over Purdue (-2.5).
