The way things went in the Saint Mary’s Gaels’ first game without Patty Mills, the next four weeks can’t go by fast enough for the school.

Portland extended its best start in West Coast Conference history with an 84-66 rout of Saint Mary’s on Saturday, the Pilots’ first win over a ranked team in more than 27 years.

This is great news for the San Francisco Dons, who get a crack at St. Mary's tonight.

The Dons will try to cash in while the Gaels are still trying to gather themselves after the loss of Mills. That should give San Francisco some hope, since the Gaels only beat the Dons by 12 points in their first meeting.

But even with Mills sidelined, the Dons will have trouble getting the better of the St. Mary’s backcourt. The Dons need a breakout game from someone, perhaps freshman Kwame Vaughn, to stay close.
