The Bruins’ field-goal-percentage defense ranks eighth in the conference and No. 262 in the nation among 330 teams.
In Saturday’s game at California against the Golden Bears, UCLA will attempt to sharpen its defense for the NCAA Tournament.
The Bears head into Saturday’s home finale against UCLA unwilling to relax, even after an 81-78 overtime conquest of USC that may have put them over the top in their pursuit of an NCAA Tournament bid.
Cal has dropped eight of nine to the Bruins, including an 81-66 decision at Pauley Pavilion last month. Theo Robertson scored a game-high 19 points, but the problem for Cal was that his four rebounds tied for the team high. UCLA outrebounded Cal 33-20.
