College Basketball Rankings Update

The UConn Huskies managed to hold onto the top spot in the college basketball rankings this Monday, taking 66 of the AP’s 72 votes. Then they promptly fell to the No. 4 Pittsburgh Panthers 76-68 as 2.5-point home faves. These two teams could swap places in the polls next week.

Or will the No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners, of all people, move all the way up to the top? They have just one game to play this week, but it’s a tough matchup in Austin against the Texas Longhorns, who just missed a spot in the Top 25. Or it could be the No. 3 North Carolina Tar Heels, who have a couple of should-wins against unranked N.C. State and Maryland.

Xavier remains the top mid-major in the polls at No. 16 after losing to now-No. 25 Dayton. No. 17 Gonzaga and No. 21 Butler are the other ranked mid-majors.
