Louisville had upset in mind and nearly pulled it off. Then Pat White took charge.
The West Virginia quarterback dashed 50 yards for a touchdown in a 38-31 victory on Thursday night in Morgantown, W. Va. White’s TD came with 1:36 remaining and snapped a tie.
The sixth-ranked Mountaineers failed to cover the point spread, which favored them by 17 points. The betting total went over 65 on White’s score.
Midway through the third quarter it looked like West Virginia had the win and the cover locked up, but the Cardinals rallied from 17 points down to tie. Brian Brohm scored on a one-yard run and threw two touchdowns to bring Louisville back.
Brohm finished with 344 yards passing. White was 16-for-25 passing for 183 yards, two TDs and no interceptions.
