It may be October already, but college football handicappers can still get their fill of non-conference cupcakes. The Old Wagon Wheel is up for grabs Friday night when the Utah State Aggies (1-3 SU, 2-2 ATS) host the No. 7 BYU Cougars. BYU has won 17 of the past 18 games between these two teams, including a 38-0 shutout when they last met in 2006. The Cougs covered as 28-point favorites.
Conveniently enough for handicappers, BYU has blanked its last two opponents by huge margins: 59-0 over UCLA (+8.5) and 44-0 over Wyoming (+28). Utah State isn’t close to the same level as those two clubs. The Aggies are near the bottom of the FBS in terms of efficiency – but they did walk all over Idaho (+3.5) last week for their first win of the season, 42-17. That should give Utah State a motivational lift heading into this rivalry game.
