Last Nov. 19, Central Michigan and Ball State met as the only two unbeaten teams in the MAC, with the Cardinals No. 17 in the country and without a loss overall. It was one of the most anticipated MAC games in years. BSU won that one and went on to the MAC title game, but the Cards have sunk this year to a 1-9 record (1-4 ATS at home) and are playing out the string. CMU against leads the MAC West and is 8-2 overall, with those two losses at BCS schools Arizona and Boston College. So, yes, Wednesday's game should be lopsided, and the Chippewas are -14.5 on Bodog’s college football odds.

CMU looked to be in a similar situation last Wednesday, and the Chips easily covered against Toledo. In that 56-28 victory, Chippewas star QB Dan LeFevour was 29-of-36 passing for 341 yards and two touchdowns. He also had four rushing TDs – giving him a team-leading 567 rush yards and 13 rushing scores on the year. He has now scored six TDs in a game six times in his stellar career, including three occasions in 2009. LeFevour and Co. love playing on ESPN, going 13-5 on the network since 2007.

There are signs this could be a closer game than the spread if you are thinking of betting the Cardinals on Bodog’s college football odds. Ball State has lost six games by seven points or fewer and has dropped the past two games against MAC contenders Ohio and Northern Illinois by a total of nine points. BSU has a very good stable of running backs, led by MiQuale Lewis, who can help keep LeFevour off the field.

In addition, Central Michigan could be looking ahead to next week’s matchup with Northern Illinois that will decide the MAC West champion — if both win this week.
