College Football Odds: Nevada at No. 6 Boise State

As good as Boise State (11-0) has been this season, the Broncos' opponent on Friday night in what amounts to the WAC Championship Game, Nevada (8-3), is playing better of late. The Wolf Pack have won eight games in a row (6-2 ATS) by an average score of 52-23, but they are 14-point dogs on Bodog's college football odds for Friday's game.
That spread seems high, considering this series has been close the past two years, with Boise winning both by a total of nine points. The Broncos do have a nine-game winning streak against Nevada; a Wolf Pack upset would end BSU's at-large BCS bowl bid hopes and cost the WAC millions of dollars.
Nevada QB Colin Kaepernick is dual threat, having rushed for more than 100 yards in five games — he is one of three Wolfpack players to rush for more than 1,000 yards this season (the first school ever to do that). The team leads the nation in rushing, is averaging 455 yards on the ground during the winning streak and has topped 500 yards three times this season.
BSU has won 56 games in a row at home and is 4-1 ATS there this year, winning by an average of 32.5 points. The Broncos have averaged 51.8 points and 487.8 yards of offense over the last five games. Quarterback Kellen Moore leads the nation in pass efficiency and touchdown-to-interception ratio (33:3). Nevada has the nation's second-worst pass defense.
One possible concern if you are pondering a college football bet on Boise State is the Broncos' defense. It was among the best in the nation earlier in the year but has allowed 74 points in the past three games — more than the unit allowed in the previous five games combined. Opponents are averaging 160 yards rushing in the past three games.
