South Florida is the No. 2 team in the country.

Has that sunk in yet?

For college football bettors it's definitely starting to. The Bulls are 6-0 straight up and 5-1 against the point spread this season. Their bid to become the most surprising team to hold the No. 1 spot in the polls this late in the season continues Thursday when they visit Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J. (7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN, BodogLIVE). South Florida is favored by a field goal against the point spread and the betting total is 52 in a game that features two explosive offenses averaging over 35 points per game.

Led by quarterback Matt Grothe, who has run for 100 yards in the past two games, the Bulls have climbed to the top of the Big East while the Scarlet Knights, an early favorite in the conference, have stumbled to a 4-2 mark. Unranked Rutgers, however, is 6-1 ATS vs. teams with a winning record. If the Bulls enter this one having put too much stake in their press clippings, they could be vulnerable to an upset.

Running back Ray Rice leads the Scarlet Knights' attack. Look for Rutgers to be fired up as home underdogs for the first time this year.
