Last year, the USF Bulls were ranked No. 9 in the nation heading into October. They made it all the way to No. 2 before dropping out of the rankings with three straight losses. This year’s Bulls are ranked No. 10 at 5-0 SU, and they’re gunning for 6-0 Thursday night at the expense of the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Neither club has done very well against the spread this year. USF is 1-3 ATS, but Pitt is even worse at 0-4 ATS. The Panthers lost their opener to Bowling Green (+14) and failed to cover in their next three games, all wins. This will be their first game of the season as underdogs.

While Jim Leavitt continues to grow the Bulls program, Dave Wannstedt’s three-year tenure at his alma mater has been a disappointment. USF won this Big East matchup in 2006 and 2007, cashing in both times.
