Let's go ahead and give the ACC Coastal Division to Virginia Tech if they beat Georgia Tech on Saturday, as the Yellow Jackets are the only ranked team left on the Hokies' schedule.

Virginia Tech, which is -3 on Bodog's college football odds, has won five in a row, the key one being against Miami for a potential tiebreaker advantage. Georgia Tech has won three in a row since losing to the Hurricanes.

These teams are similar in a lot of ways. The Hokies' have the 2009 ACC rushing leader in running back Ryan Williams, while the Jackets have the 2008 conference rushing king in Jonathan Dwyer. Both teams' quarterbacks generally are run-first guys but who have improved as passers. Virginia Tech's Tyrod Taylor has eight TD passes this year in 104 attempts after having just two in 173 attempts all last season, and he's third in the ACC in pass efficiency. Georgia Tech's Josh Nesbitt ranks second in the ACC in pass efficiency, third in rushing and seventh in total offense – last week against Florida State he rushed for 140 yards and a career-high three touchdowns and passed for 131 yards and a touchdown. Nesbitt has some gaudy rush numbers this year because defenses are loading up to stop Dwyer.

If the offenses are a near-wash, the defenses aren't. The Jackets have allowed 487 and 539 yards the past two games. They are 82nd in the nation yards allowed per game and 77th in points. Virginia Tech's run defense found itself after some early struggles, having allowed a total of just 182 yards in the past three games — 1.5 yards per carry.

The Hokies have won two in a row in this series, including 20-17 last year despite Georgia Tech rushing for nearly 300 yards.
