The Nebraska Cornhuskers are trying their best to not look ahead to a Dec. 5 Big 12 Championship game against unbeaten Texas. First up they will take on the Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder tonight.

The game means nothing in terms of the Huskers’ fate. Nebraska is 8-3, already has the Big 12 North title, and is going to the Holiday, Cotton, or Fiesta bowls.

But a loss would kill the momentum going into a big game in Dallas. A loss would also damage hopes for a nine-win season, and maybe a 10-win season.

The Nebraska-Colorado series has produced some crazy results in the last decade. Three times since 2003 the head coach from one of these schools has lost his job after this game.

Colorado played on a Thursday night and will essentially get a long week heading into this game, while Nebraska will have a short week after playing a Saturday night game.
