LSU Tigers - Bodog Beat

After two weeks of college football, it's not so clear which team is the best in the nation. Is it the USC Trojans or the LSU Tigers?

In the Associated Press preseason rankings, USC received 62 of a possible 65 1st-place votes. This week, the Trojans' number of 1st-place votes are down to 40, with LSU getting 25.

It's the same story in the USA Today poll. In the preseason, USC got 45 of 60 1st-place votes, with LSU getting four. (And Michigan getting two!) This week, the Trojans received 42, with LSU getting 11 and Florida seven.

The Trojans were idle Saturday, one week after a less-than-impressive trouncing of Idaho by a score of 38-10. Meanwhile, LSU blew out Mississippi State, 45-0, in Week 1 and hammered No. 9 Virginia Tech, 48-7, on Saturday.

LSU coach Les Miles is no doubt happy with his team's start, but is wary of his players getting ahead of themselves.

"You can save the accolades. We've just won two games and we have a lot of football to play," Miles said. "Don't make too much of this. It's all about what we have to get done in the future."
