Today’s college football preview begins with the UNLV Rebels. New head coach Bobby Hauck takes over a team that went 5-7 (3-5) last year.

There are plenty of holes to fix. Quarterback is wide open; it should be a battle between Channing Trotter and Omar Clayton. The ground game needs help, but there’s at least some potential in CJ Cox. The defense looks pretty bad, though. The secondary got torched. There could be as many as nine seniors starting, but that’s not necessarily a good thing—they’re the same guys that got killed last year.

On the bright side, the offense has four starters returning on the line. And, though it’s unsure who will start under center, whoever it is will have the services of receiver Phillip Payne—he has star potential.
