The Wyoming Cowboys enjoyed a solid season last year, going 7-6 (4-4) and finishing fifth in the Mountain West. They also won the New Mexico Bowl over Fresno State.

There’s a lot to like on this team, most importantly quarterback Austyn Carta-Samuels. Last year, as a true freshman, he helped step the tide of turnovers this team has suffered from in the past. Carta-Samuels has great long-term potential. He’ll probably target David Leonard the most of his receivers, though the rest of the corps is a little weak. The ground game should also be solid with sophomore Alvester Alexander ready to build on a nice debut last year. The defense will be spearheaded by a great secondary.

While Carta-Samuels has potential, he could be slowed by a bad offensive line. The team was ravaged by sacks last year. Three starters are back, so hopefully some continuity will sort things out.
