On Wednesday, Feb. 13 in Albuquerque, N.M., the World Extreme Cagefighting welterweight title will be up for grabs when reigning champion Carlos Condit (21-4-0) gets a re-match against the first fighter to ever beat him in mixed martial arts, Carlo Prater (21-5-1).

Condit defeated Prater in 2004, forcing the then-undefeated fighter to tap out due to a triangle choke in the first round. In an interview with MMAweekly.com, Condit says he's not the same fighter he was then.

"At the time, I was on a big win streak and up until then I finished everybody in the first round," he says. "I think I was a little bit cocky maybe, a little bit arrogant thinking that was going to be the case every time and I didn’t train as hard as I should have for the fight."

Now, with his belt on the line, Prater says he hasn't made the same mistake again.

"I think I’ve matured as a fighter," he explains. "I know that I’ve matured as a person and I’ve become a lot more focused. I’ve definitely come a long way."

Heading into the re-match, Condit is undefeated in 6-fights while Prater is riding a 3-fight winning streak.

Also on the card are UFC veterans Jamie Varner (13-2-1) and Rob McCollough (15-3-0), who will square off for the WEC lightweight title. Canadian Mark Hominick (15-7-0) faces Josh "The Fluke" Grispi (10-1-0).
