With the final stretch for playoff position well underway, perhaps the mostly hotly contested battle in Major League Baseball is in its worst division.
Considering both teams find themselves not far over .500, the late-season series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers had potential to be a snoozer, but as the two clubs took the field Sunday within a half-game of each other, it started to turn heads.
In their first game of the series, the Dodgers took an early lead and took a 7-0 lead into the ninth inning before giving up two. With the victory the Dodgers leapfrog Arizona to a 72-70 record.
Failing to register his 20th win of the season as Arizona fell from first place for the first time since April, was Diamondbacks starter Brandon Webb.
Elsewhere in baseball a Gregg Zaun walk-off grand slam gave the Toronto Blue Jays a 7-4 advantage over a struggling Tampa Bay Rays team.
The win was number seven in a row for the Jays who will look to extend their longest winning streak since 2002.
