But first, Chelsea and Everton have a Premiership date to keep at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday (3:00 p.m. Eastern). The Pensioners have moved up into third place on the EPL table at 20 wins, seven draws and five losses, and they’re pegged at –250 to beat sixth-place Everton (14-10-8). The Toffeemen are +750 and the draw is +300.

The betting public has big expectations for Chelsea after picking up six wins in seven EPL matches under new manager Guus Hiddink. The Blues have also advanced past Liverpool into the Champions League semifinals. Everton’s elimination of Manchester United in the FA Cup semis (on penalties after a goalless draw) was assisted by Sir Alex Ferguson’s decision to play a watered-down starting 11 without Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar. Chelsea won’t be nearly as charitable.
