Bye, bye Pedro. Looks like New York Mets pitcher Pedro Martinez is off to the disabled list after just 57 regular season pitches.
Martinez heard a pop in his left hamstring during Tuesday loss to the Florida Marlins and will have an MRI today to determine the extent of the injury.
Martinez gave up two homers and four earned runs, while walking one and striking out one. His ERA currently sits at 10.60 and his WHIP at 1.50.
The blow could be a large one for the Mets who have Martinez slotted as their number two starter, behind only ace Johan Santana.
Options for replacing Pedro in the Mets’ rotation include Brian Stokes (currently on waivers), Jorge Sosa and Nelson Figueroa.
