Chris Mims, former defensive lineman for the San Diego Chargers, was found dead in his apartment by police who were conducting a welfare check today. Mims' relatives have not yet been notified, so the coroner was unable to release the cause of death - however, foul play has been ruled out.

Mims played eight seasons in the NFL, seven with the San Diego Chargers and one with the Washington Redskins. He was released by the Chargers in 1997.

Officer April Harding of the Los Angeles Police Department told KTLA News that Mims suffered from weight and medical problems.
