Kosuke's Fukudome's first game with the Chicago Cubs was fairly memorable. A single, a double and a three-run home run off Milwaukee's Eric Gagne to tie the game 3-3 in the ninth inning. To say the least, the Wrigley faithful were impressed with the man that cost the Cubbies $48 million for a four-year deal.
The Cubs still lost 4-3 in ten innings, but a star was born.
Carlos Zambrano started for the Cubs but left during the seventh inning with a cramp in his right forearm. Despite the injury, Zambrano allowed just three hits and no runs.
In fact, it wasn't until the ninth inning that either team scored a run. The Brewers got three in the top of the inning and then watched while Fukudome brought the home side back with one swing of the bat.
Fukudome racked up 192 homers and a .305 batting average over nine seasons with the Chunichi Dragons of the Japanese Central League. He also happens to be the cover boy for Bodog Nation's all-rookie fantasy baseball team.
Not braggin'. Just sayin'.
