Generally speaking, July 21st is not a really hot date on the NFL calendar. But in 2008, it sure has been.
Just a short while after learning that Jason Taylor had been traded to Washington, the New York Giants announced they traded Pro Bowl TE Jeremy Shockey to New Orleans for second and fifth round picks in the 2009 Draft. The deal is still pending league approval and Shockey needs to pass a New Orleans physical examination.
Shockey was clearly not interested in returning to the Giants after missing the Super Bowl run with a fractured leg. He attended but refused to participate in last month's mandatory minicamp and reportedly got into a shouting match with general manager Jerry Reese during the three-day session.
While we're unsure how this move will affect the Saints, we do know that it's a total boon for the fantasy football value of Drew Brees with a huge and talented option at TE. Why not check out Bodog Fantasy today and see if you can get in on the action?
