After losing the first two rounds to Clay Guida (22-6-0) in the main event of the Ultimate Fighter Finale on Saturday, Dec. 8 in Las Vegas, Nev., Roger "El Matador" Huerta (22-1-1) was in serious trouble. Unable to stop the takedowns or the brutal ground and pound attack of his opponent, Huerta seemed destined to lose a unanimous decision.

But Huerta had other plans. Catching his second-wind at the start of the third round, "El Matador" knew he had to do something dramatic to win – and that's exactly what he did. Slipping away from Guida's single-leg takedown attempt, Huerta spun immediately to the back of his opponent and sunk in a rear naked choke. Suddenly, all of the critics who said that Huerta had been "carried over" by the UFC and fed inexperienced opponents were silent. Coming off back-to-back wins over five fighters making their UFC debut, Huerta had beaten a tough octagon veteran.

Huerta's victory was the final fight in a night full of action, where Mac Danzig (18-4-1), who should be fighting at lightweight, took out the huge Tommy Speer (9-2-0) in a 170-pound welterweight match. Turning the tables on the bigger fighter, Danzig took Speer to the mat and finished him off with a choke.
