Welcome back, Jay Gibbons.

The former Baltimore Orioles outfielder - named in the Mitchell report on performance-enhancing drugs in MLB - has finally gotten himself back into the business, signing a minor-league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Gibbons had taken extraordinary steps to revive his career. He wrote a letter to all 30 MLB teams acknowledging he made a mistake, and offered to donate his minor league salary to charity if he got a deal.

The 31-year-old Gibbons was released by the Orioles in March after he batted .189 with no home runs and four RBIs in 16 games in spring training. He played in only 84 games last season because of surgery on his left shoulder.
