Maddux to Dodgers, Last Place to Cubs

Four-time Cy Young Award winner Greg Maddux had been traded from the Chicago Cubs to the Los Angeles Dodgers. In return, the Cubs will receive infielder Cesar Izturis.

After starting the season 5-0, Maddux is now 9-11 with a 4.69 ERA.

From June 14 to July 19, Maddux lost six of seven decisions. However, some of that losing streak can be attributed to a woeful lack of run support. Maddux's 4.69 ERA is well-above his career mark of 3.06. His 1.29 WHIP is also above his lifetime number of 1.14.

This is the final year of Maddux's contract. He'll make $9,000,000 in 2006.

As for Izturis, the 26-year-old is hitting .252 with one homer and 12 RBI after just 112 at-bats. Izturis' salary is $3,200,000 for 2006.
