"I think it was one of the most consistent matches where I did all the things I wanted to do and I did them correctly from the beginning to the end except having a little letdown in the end of that first set," Maria Sharapova told the media after the 6-4 6-0 game.

"I felt like I did many things right, and I just played the way I can play. I had to be aggressive," she said. " When I'm playing well, that's what I do. I'm not a passive player. I want to be the one that's forcing their errors. I did a really good job of that today."

Sharapova's Belgian opponent, Justine Henin, whose 32-match winning streak was crushed by Sharapova, said she had been suffering from a knee injury. However, like any good player, Henin didn't claim the injury hindered her game.

"She was much better than me," Henin said. "I wasn't at my best, but it's very hard to be at your best all the time."

Sharapova agreed that it was one of her best games.

"The stars were shining, it was just meant to be," she said. "I was trying to put pressure on her. I did many things well, and sometimes when you do those things they just don't work."
