When does Randy Couture's contract with the UFC expire? It's the question every mixed martial arts fan is asking. Now, billionaire Mark Cuban wants an answer.

Cuban, who owns both the Dallas Mavericks and HDNet Fights, has filed a lawsuit against Zuffa LLC, the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championships, for a court ruling on when Couture's contract expires.

Couture (16-8-0) and the UFC have been locked in an ugly legal battle since the heavyweight champ left the octagon in October to pursue a fight against top-ranked Russian fighter Fedor Emelianenko (27-1-0). Since then, both parties have shared their own interpretation of the contract, with Couture saying his legal obligations are due to expire, and UFC owners saying that Couture is still under contract for two more remaining fights.

By asking for a ruling, Cuban removes any doubt about his stake in a potential fight between Emelianenko and Couture.
