Well this certainly got interesting.

After Dirk Nowitzki admitted that he didn't want to play the Los Angeles Lakers in the opening round of the Western Conference playoffs, Jason Kidd did everything in his power to make it happen on Wednesday night. The Dallas Mavericks' All-Star posted his 100th career triple-double as his squad squashed the New Orleans Hornets, 111-98.

The win vaulted Dallas into the seventh overall spot, setting up a first-round series with the No. 2 seed Hornets. And if tonight was any indication, the "underdog" seed has a very good chance of pulling off the upset.

It seems that while neither can shut down Chris Paul alone, Kidd and Jason Terry do a good job of it together. Kidd went for 27 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists while Terry posted a game-high 30.

As per usual, it was Paul and David West who led the Hornets. Paul went for 20 points and 10 assists, while West scored 26 points and hauled in eight rebounds.

Dallas came into this contest as a -7.5 point home favorite, covering the spread with ease. The final score went over the posted total of 192 in the Bodog Sportsbook.
