Clearly spending a lot of money does not equal success in baseball. Hoping to avoid their first five-game losing streak in nearly two years, the New York Yankees close a brief two-game series against the visiting Tampa Bay Rays tonight.

With their fourth consecutive loss, the -160 favored Yankees matched their longest skid from last season and dropped to 3-9 against the AL East. They last dropped five in a row May 25-29, 2007.

Andy Pettitte looks to rebound from his worst performance of the season and should do just that considering he is 15-4 with a 3.70 ERA in 25 starts against Tampa Bay.

Jeff Niemann hopes to pitch the Rays to their first three-game win streak. The righthander had his worst start of the season Saturday in a 10-6 loss to Boston, allowing six runs and seven hits in three innings, the shortest start of his career.
