When they acquired Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis in the offseason many were basically handing them the World Series trophy by pegging them as one of the favorites. The Tigers ended up in last place with a 74-88 record and the 28th best money team overall (-29.17 units).

Then there are the New York Mets. The Mets had a pretty comfortable lead in the NL East until the calendar changed to September and once again they crashed and burned. Their bullpen was dismal and many of their players forgot how to win. Mets backers will have a long, cold offseason, but it could be worse – they could be Cubs fans.

In terms of betting, the San Diego Padres were the biggest disappointment of 2008 because they took the most of your cold hard cash, ranking last in the league at -37.82 units. Get all your MLB odds in the Bodog Sportsbook now.
