The San Francisco Giants will turn to reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum tonight when they face the Oakland Athletics and rookie Vin Mazzaro, who has yet to allow a run through two outings. Obviously, MLB odds list the Giants as -155 favorites.
Oakland went 4-2 against San Francisco last year, and has not lost the season series since going 2-4 eight years ago. The Athletics have won seven straight road meetings.
Lincecum is having another strong year, going unbeaten since his second start of the season. The Giants have dropped three of his last five outings, though, and the righthander won Sunday by giving up two runs in a 3-2 victory at Florida.
His opponent will be a rookie making his third career start in Mazzaro, who made his major league debut June 2 against the Chicago White Sox by only giving up three hits over 6 1-3 innings to earn a 5-0 win.
