Though various injuries slowed down some players during interleague games, the New York Yankees are surging as they try to extend an eight-game home winning streak versus the Seattle Mariners in the opener of a three-game set tonight.

The Yankees finished a 9-6 stretch against the NL, and matched their high-water mark for the season at 11 games above .500.

The Yankees are batting .348 while averaging 9.0 runs during an eight-game winning streak at home versus the Mariners, but this will be the teams' first meeting at the new Yankee Stadium.

New York will send Joba Chamberlain to the mound. This will be the righthander's first start against the Mariners.

Brandon Morrow, who has 16 saves for Seattle over the past two seasons, continues to make his transition to the starting rotation.

The Mariners are 7-20 in the last 27 meetings in New York against the -250 favored Yankees.
