MLB Midseason Report Cards: American League East

Grade A: The Red Sox (+400 to win World Series) won four of their last five games to improve to 54-34, their fifth-best record at the All-Star break since 1954.

Grade B: The New York Yankees finished 3-3 on their road trip before the All-Star break and dropped to 5-15 this season against four teams in first at the break: Boston, Detroit, the Angels and Philadelphia.

Grade C+: After going to the World Series Tampa Bay has taken a step back. Heading into the break they lost two in a row at home after winning nine straight at Tropicana Field.

Grade D: On May 18, Toronto was 27-14 and in first place. Now the Blue Jays are 44-46 and 11 games out.

Grade D: Baltimore has won six of its last nine series and trails the fourth-place Blue Jays by only three games in the AL East.
