The San Diego Padres will try to avoid extending their major league-record skid in interleague play to 13 tonight when they continue a three-game set against the Seattle Mariners.
San Diego is 5-13 since its 10-game winning streak was snapped on May 26. It's dropped four straight overall, totaling just one run in its past three losses.
To make it worse, San Diego is 4-23 in its last 27 games versus the AL dating to 2007.
The -130 favored Padres hope to have better luck against Garrett Olson. Olson returned to the starting staff Thursday at Baltimore in a 6-3 win.
Chad Gaudin, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from one of the worst starts of his career. The righthander gave up eight runs and 10 hits over three innings in an 11-6 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Friday.
