With 8-wins in a row, Jake Shields (19-4-1) is one of the top 170-pound MMA fighters in the world.
Saturday, Nov 10. in Corpus Christi, TX, he'll try to extend his winning streak again when he faces Mike Pyle (14-4-1) at Elite XC: Renegade.
"I am looking for respect and becoming No. 1 in the world," Shields says. "As I have said time and again, I want to fight the best."
A student of Cesar Gracie, Shields is well-known for his strong jiu-jitsu game but knows that Pyle, who trains at the Xtreme Couture gym, knows his way around the mat as well.
"I expect a very good fight. I may try and take the fight to him and try and manhandle him, but I don't have a real plan going in. I'll just go out and see where things go. Mike has some great submissions and has fought some great fighters. I know I need to be my best, but I feel ready for a top effort.''
Even though it's not a title fight, Pyle says fans should expect an exciting match. "Title or no title, this is going to be a great fight for the fans and for the both of us," he explains. "There are going to be fireworks. It is going to be a war."
